Smartermail: How to fix email account can’t be logged [idsmtp1]

This guide is about how to fix email account that facing issue. ie. account’t can’t be logged. The issue is recently on idsmtp1 server which is on Exabytes Indonesia server. This is recently smartermail issue while you are dealing with email account that keep asking for password OR the disk space showing 100 MB only. Here is how to fix.

Identify the Problem

The issue was identified as below picture.

It is about the disk space showing only 100 MB and… if you open file settings.json showing weird codes. NOTE: It should showing some configuration that hooman can read.

NOTE : settings.json here can be accessed at C:\SmarterMail\Domains\sepatuwijaya.id\Users\sfbt\settings.json

Another example that you can identify is click the password, it should showing REAL password of customers’ email.

Yes that means the inbox folder issue. How to fix?

Copy settings.json From Restore

The idea is to copy file settings.json from restore. Watch where this settings.json get from. Make sure you UNDERSTAND what you are doing first. Get from backup server (login to r1soft) and browse the previous recent backup.

Browse for C:\SmarterMail\Domains\DOMAIN\Users\USER\ and restore file settings.json

After restore file restored, rename the old settings.json as settings.json-old and copy recent restored file to actual path to which user that having issue.

Restart service

Lastly, restart service Smartermail under: Search > services.msc > SmarterMail Service > restart

Make sure the SmarterMail service is up and running first!
Done.
