HyperV: How to Export VM
In this case we will EXPORT windows VM under HyperV virtualisation to another host. Sometime due to insufficient disk, we need to export VM with status Offline to be exported somewhere else. Obviously at current server, does not has any disk free any more.
- For example you wish to export vm from WINSSD06 to WINSSD02.
- Make sure you already share WINSSD02 destined folder, and make sure it’s folder has write & read status for everyone.
- For example under WINSSD02 the destination folder called Migrate_on_winssd02.
- On WINSSD06 host, we do Export. See below.

Make sure you Export correct vm.
- Fill the destination path as \\WINSSD2\Migrate_on_winssd02
- The path below based on our example scenario. So don’t copy paste from this article.
- The status of Export can be viewed under status bar.

- Wait until finished
- Once finished, make sure you revert back folder permission on destination server to write only!

Next task is importing VM.
