VPS KVM Linux: Dracut loaded when booting up VPS

Sometime on VPS Linux based on KVM, you will see customer VPS loaded as dracut interface instead of their operating system. This kind of thing is quite troublesome and can be easily handled. If you facing this issue, here is what you can do.

Locate the server through SolusVM

Login to ezeelogin web interface, login to SolusVM first. Make sure the vm is correct and IP address customer refer to is correct.

Go to customer’s VPS console

Once logged into SolusVM, now go to console and click VNC. Then console it. You can either use Java VNC or HTML 5 VNC. Or use TightVNC to console.

Reboot the VPS

Now once logged into console, we need to reboot the VPS. Either use Ctrl + Alt + Del provided by interface system or you can use hard reboot button within SolusVM.

Choose Lower Kernel Version

This is the important thing. Now you need to choose lower kernel version when the server trying to boot up.

Summary

The idea is to choose another version kernel instead of newest one or current customer had. It is likely the kernel header installed wrongly.

Additional Info : For you to having difficult time to select earlier version of Kernel, may use this article to make splash kernel longer.
